Kevin, with 13 years of hands-on experience, leads the charge as the company's owner and lead roofer. His expertise in roofing tear-offs, installation, and repairs is second to none. What sets him apart is not just his skill on the roof but his commitment to honesty and transparency. Their mission is simple yet profound: to treat every roof as if it were their own grandmother's. Kevin and Melissa believe in evaluating each roof's condition meticulously, recommending a new roof only when absolutely necessary.
But Kevin's talents extend beyond the rooftop; he's also a licensed drone pilot, facilitating quick and accurate overhead inspections. When he's not scaling roofs or navigating drones, you'll likely find Kevin immersed in nature, whether it's cruising through the Everglades on his airboat or casting a line in Terra Ceia or Sarasota Bay.
Melissa McLin, co-owner and marketing director of Blue Collar Roofing, brings her own brand of expertise to the table. With 12 years of experience in print marketing, she ensures that the company's message reaches far and wide.
Together, Melissa and Kevin form a formidable team, combining their skills to propel Blue Collar Roofing to new heights.
From the very first client to the latest project, they prioritize lasting relationships built on a foundation of honesty and respect.
What inspired you to start your own business?
We knew we wanted to make a difference in our community, being an employee we often found ourselves with no time to serve others, or extra money to donate to causes that we loved. WE also wanted to help others grow with us.

What is your business slogan or motto?
At Blue Collar Roofing, we are more than just roofers – we are a legacy of craftsmanship spanning three generations. Our mission is to elevate roofing to an art form, taking pride in every detail of our work. Committed to community, we give back with gratitude. With a philosophy that treats every client as we would our own grandma. She was our very first client after all, we prioritize trust and lasting relationships, ensuring the strength of our roofs mirrors the strength of our connections.
What makes your business unique?
We do not sub out any of our work, and our team is completely made of young professionals - none of us are over 40
What product/services do you offer?
Roof replacement, repairs maintenance and inspections. We also install Kitchen Hood vents and skylights.
What has been your biggest success to date?
Winning Bradenton's Best in 2023 - GOLD, and SRQ Best in 2024 - Bronze
What has been your biggest challenge?
Finding the right employees, we are blessed with the team we have but it took time to find everyone for the right positions
What’s your best advice for someone who wants to start a business?
Do it! Don’t wait. Seek wise counsel and get a mentor.
What’s something about you (a fun fact) that not many people know?
We go airboating in the everglades, and have camp out there.
What do you love the most about Sarasota?
The people.
